Windows 10 Achieves 2 Billion Devices Milestone

Windows 10 on 2 Billion Devices | Easiest Tech

Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system has reached a significant milestone, with over 2 billion devices now running the OS worldwide. This achievement underscores the widespread adoption and popularity of Windows 10 across various device types and user demographics.

Initially released in 2015, Windows 10 was quickly embraced by users, with Microsoft hitting the 1 billion device milestone in early 2020. This rapid adoption was fueled by the end of support for Windows 7, which prompted many users to upgrade to the newer, more secure Windows 10.

The company claims that the Windows 10 operating system is running on 80,000 models of laptops and two-in-one devices of different configurations from more than one thousand manufacturers. In addition, the Windows Insider program now has nearly 18 million experimental users from almost all countries in the world.

According to a Microsoft blog post, one in seven people around the world is using Windows 10 for tasks such as planning, creativity, innovation, and applications. Microsoft Corporate Vice President Yusuf Mehdi said, "We are honored that customers love and like Windows 10. There has never been a more important time for a secure, reliable platform. We are pleased to announce today that more than 2 billion people have chosen Windows 10 in 200 countries around the world."

Windows 10 is not just a computer and laptop operating system, it is used as a software for mixed reality, HoloLens, the full Xbox console series, Surface Pro, Surface Book, and Surface Hub 2.

Microsoft released Windows 10 in 2015. At that time, the company set a target to reach the milestone of 1 billion within a few years. It reached 1 billion only two months after Microsoft withdrew their popular operating system Windows 7. Now, with over 2 billion devices, Windows 10 continues to be a cornerstone of Microsoft's software ecosystem.
